We love those Cougars and Chris throws a great tailgate party each home game.  The kids bring all of their friends and occasionally parents.  Several of our neighbors and friends join in too.

During halftime it's out to the Cougar Statue to throw the football

Fun News to read

Jordan's letter this morning was fun to read about...he said "John Beck is now in the english ward that shares the building with our ward. He was looking for the english elders to give him a referral. I took the opportunity to talk to him about his mission (in Lisbon, Portugal) I told him about Ben going there and he got really excited. He said Ben will love it there. Then I got a picture with him of course. :)"

Passover Seder at BYU

I have been studying the "manner of the Jews" for quite a few years now.  I truly have a love of their religion because I believe that it was the precursor to my Religion.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the restored Church of Christ from the time of the Jews when Christ was on the earth.  Christ was a Jew and His "Last Supper" was in fact a passover dinner.

My favorite part of passover is that it teaches of the sacrament.    

The passover meal ends with the Afikomen - this unleavened bread is broken into

"olive-size" pieces.  

It is then blessed by the Father at the table and then he explains that "This bread is in remembrance of the Sacrificed Lamb"

(since they cannot have lamb now because there is no temple to sacrifice the lambs)  

 They also drink a cup of Wine (grape juice) called the cup after supper.   Both of these-- the afikomen (broken bread) and the cup after supper --were the bread and wine given by Jesus but he changed the words to "This is in remembrance of my body" and "my blood"

What amazes me  is that the Jews eyes are closed to all of this symbolism   It is so very obvious to us.  Surely when the Savior comes to the Jews the nation will be converted in a Day and their eyes will be open to all of this.

I also always love the cup for Elijah - The Jews are still waiting for him to come.  he came at passover time to Joseph Smith to restore the sealing power.   Because of this we are able to be sealed together forever!!  I am so thankful for this knowledge and truth.

We had a wonderful night celebrating passover with Chris and Jen Adams at BYU.

Chris took Ty and Brycen to the BYU - Gonzaga Basketball Game at the Marriott Center Last Night.
It was a great game and they were so excited to win 93-83.
After the win they saw Cosmo at the Victory Bell

Ben was accepted to BYU   Of course we are so excited for him !!!!!

Cheesey Game Bread

Saturday's in October are all about BYU football.  The Cougars are playing TCU so the game is on downstairs in the TV room.
I found an appetizer that I thought would be good and decided to try it out.  Everyone
gobbled it up quickly.  Its a cheesey bread and it's delish.


I got this recipe from one of my fav blogs your homebased mom so thanks Leigh Anne and as she says
How can any combination of bread, cheese and butter be anything but wonderful?



Get a good quality artisan, style bread. You want a bread with a crisp, firm, hard crust. You want the bread to be a nice firm, denser style of bread.

1 unsliced loaf of (round is preferable) sourdough bread
1 pound Monterey Jack cheese, thinly sliced
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup finely diced green onion, including white part
2-3 tsp poppy seeds

Directions:


Using a sharp bread knife cut the bread going both directions. Do not cut through the bottom crust.



Places slices of cheese between cuts. Mix together butter, onion, and poppy seeds. Pour over bread. Wrap in foil the entire thing in foil and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Unwrap. Bake 10 more minutes, or until cheese is melted.  Be careful not to burn your mouth on the hot gooey cheese!

BYU Cougar Craze

Chris finally convinced Brycen to go to a BYU football game today.  Chris and the boys LOVE BYU football and they have season tickets.  Until this year, Brycen had no interest in going....Now he
begs Dad to play football out in the yard every night after work.
To celebrate the occasion we gave Brycen a BYU football uniform, complete with a helmet.  6 year old Jordan, Ben, and Tyler would be so jealous!  They always had old helmets they tried to paint blue "Y"'s on.

The best part was that the courgars won this week!
